When mercy ends.
2 KINGS 1:6-17
“And he said unto him, thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? Therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken.”
Have you ever been warned by God, and just ignored the warning? I have, to my deep regret. Sometimes we just push away his instructions, like a vegetable on our plate that does not offer our taste buds; the gratifying satisfaction we crave. This is not a good course to travel down, much less a stable road to live on.
God gives instructions, for our benefit. These directions are to enable us to live an abundant life, not a life that is cut off by him; because of our rebellion and pride.
Ask God today to come and “clean your closet” with you. Ask God to weed out of your life the sin that is causing death to invade, and seep into your very being. If you allow God to bring life where death sat, you will be free, and on the road of increase – not defeat and decline.
